Wrington Redhill 4 Winscombe 0

With the pitch at Wrington still recovering from the effects of midweek inclement weather this fixture was contested at the 4G facility at Worle.

Wrington Redhill hosted local rivals Winscombe and could not have asked for a better start  when the lively Joe Creese stepped in to take the ball off keeper Harry Burgess and tapped into the net from close range with only three minutes on the clock for an early 1-0 lead.Despite this setback and to their credit Winscombe rallied and applied their own pressure with the ball being played into the home sides area without any real alarm calls being raised.

The back line was shored up by Leigh White and Ollie Clements slotting in the left side alongside the usual pairing of Josh Pitt and skipper Dan Ferguson and the quartet looked very solid throughout the game. Numerous ventures forward were made with the pace of Creese and Reece Ferguson-Obamwonyi, in particular, and Jack Hutchings playing his part ensured that the Winscombe defenders were kept very busy.

The game was influenced when Creese was sin binned for ten minutes following backchat with the referee and whilst temporarily reduced to ten players, this spurred on Winscombe, but Pitt, Ferguson, White and Clements started to win their defensive duals and playing well from the back gave the midfield trio of Ryan Pugh, Sam Harvey and Ayrton Phillips more time on the ball. This allowed them to feed the dangerous Hutchings and Ferguson-Obamwonyi, who was showing his magic as he weaved through the Winscombe defence winning numerous free kicks from desperate challenges to stophim.

A couple of long-range free kicks were well saved but unfortunately another error by Brooks resulted in Ryan Pugh pouncing and increasing the lead to 2-0 at half time.

After the break Winscombe tried desperately to get back into the game and their threat mostly came from set pieces and missed two good chances with Matt Hilldirecting his defence well. As the half progressed George Fake replaced Hutchings as the home side continued to maintain control and extend their lead further. Picking the ball up just inside the Winscombe half Fake played a delightful ball between the central defenders as Creese raced onto it and cooly slot past Burgess effectively killing the game off at this stage.

Wrington Redhill were not finished though and Ferguson-Obamwonyi rounded off an excellent player of the match performance with a well-deserved goal as his reward.

Late in the game Chris Bradley and Chris Holland were introduced using their experience to see out the game with Josh Pitt being the second player side-lined to the sin bin by the referee.
