2Nailsea Utd 2 Wrington Redhill 2

Wrington Redhill travelled to Nailsea for the 3rd of a series of away games to face a strong United team. The game started well for the visitors who were kicking down the slope and after only 2 minutes Reece Ferguson-Obamwonyi slid the ball through for George Fake whose left foot shot beat Jack Smith in the Nailsea goal.

For 10 minutes or so Wrington Redhill seemed completely in control with Pugh, Clements and Harvey dominating the midfield but nothing really came of it. Nailsea slowly bit by bit were getting themselves back into the game and before long were making chances of their own. Lively centre forward Adam Marsden was keeping Leigh White and Dan Ferguson busy and wide man Cooksley was seeing a lot of the ball on their left wing. Mid way through the half Nailsea were back in the game when a shot from Parsons was blocked by Josh Pitt and the ball ran to Ryan Ford whose shot from inside the box beat Logan McKenkie in goal for Wrington Redhill. Nailsea probably had the better of the 1st half from there on but some poor finishing and good work by the visitors defence meant it remained 1 all at half time.

At half time Wrington Redhill changed the injured Ollie Clements for Ashley Towler and Ryan Pugh for Ethan Johnson. Johnson slotted in at centre half pushing manager White into midfield to add some bite. 2 minutes into the half however Nailsea took the lead when a miss-placed clearance by skipper Ferguson went for a corner. This corner was slung in high under the bar and Nailsea’s Ernie Cooksly reached it first to send it over the line to put Nailsea in front. At this point the visitors came to life with Bonner and Creese linking well to create chances from the left and Towler certainly livening up the midfield. Eventually a through ball from White put Creese through just on the half way line and his electric pace left him free to run at Smith and slot the ball in for the equaliser. The visitors were spurred on now to look for the winner and brought on Jack Hutchings, Rory Thomas and Ethan Williams to add some fresh legs but it was not to be. A draw was probably a fair result in the end.

Supporter Club Man of the match went to the ever lively Joe Creese.
