Winscombe 0 Wrington Redhill 3

Assistant manager Sam Clements has always said that the current crop of players could beat anyone on their day if they’re in the mood. Well they were certainly in the mood under the lights at Winscombe where they faced a very good team that were going well in the league. Wrington Redhill started well spending good spells in the opponents half but shots from Turner and Phillips comfortably dealt with by Ryan Thacker in goal for Winscombe. The breakthrough came after 12 minutes when a free kick from Ollie Clements was met by Ayrton Phillips who glanced his header just inside the post. Winscombe were stunned into action but the Wrington Redhill back line of Pitt, Ferguson, Johnson and Bonner dealt with everything that came their way. They did however almost equalise during a comedic few minutes when, under no pressure, goalkeeper Hill stood on the ball and fell over leaving him no option but to pick it up. The resulting free kick from 12 yards was charged down by a defence determined to stay in front. Goal 2 came soon after when Reece Ferguson Obamwonyi received the ball on the right and ran at his full back turning him inside and out before smashing a right foot shot into the bottom corner of the net Shell  shocked Winscombe were looking to get through to half time at 2 nil and reform for the 2nd half but with minutes to go another Clements free kick was whipped in evading everyone except Phillips who scored with a diving header at the back postto make it 3 nil at halftime.
The 2nd half started with the visitors expecting an onslaught from Winscombe kicking down the slope with some fresh legs on. However the midfield of Harvey, Phillips and Clements had such a grip on he game that actually Wrington Redhill looked the more likely to score. Joe Creese’s pace and the dribbling skills of Travis Turner and Reece Ferguson Obamwonyi certainly kept the Winscombe defenders on their toes although Jory Cureton and Daryl Newman did well to limit the chances. With minutes left Jack Hutchings on for the injured Phillips, was put through by Turner but his tame effort was well saved by Thacker.
Supporters Man of the Match Ayrton (Senna) Phillips. There were many fine performances but with 2 goals and a powerhouse display in midfield he was truly 5 star!
