The be look Reserve team got off to a winning start at the Riverside in a thrilling end to end game. The 1st 10 minutes saw T.J. and Ethan Williams squander good opportunities before Banwell took the lead.A free kick from outside of the box was fired into the top corner by Callum Fox giving Tommy Skidmore in goal fore the visitors no chance. The visitors equalised when Ryan Ealden was bundled over in the box for a penalty which he took himself blasting his kick past Darnley in goal for Banwell. Banwell we’re back in font soon after when a corner from the right evaded everyone before it struck Tom Stockwell who deflected into his own net. Wrington Redhill drew level soon after when Ethan Williams swept in a cross from Johnson.
Half time 2 all.
Wrington started the 2nd half very well with a good spell of possession before an attack was cleared to tw of the box where White ran in to smash it past Darnley with the help of a slight deflection. 3 -2 became 4-2 soon after when Darnley spilled a speculative shot from Turner was spilled by the goalkeeper and the ever alert Johnson pounced to score from close range. It looked plain sailing for Wrington 5 minutes later when Turner scored again to make it 5-2 but that lead to a period of sloppy defending which let Banwell back into the game. Their 3rd goal came when FinleyRoss was left unmarked in the box and he was put clean through to score past Skidmore. 5 minutes later Callum Moore collected a pass on the half way line and ran at the Wrington defence skipping past everyone before scoring from inside the box. Wrington nerves were settled soon after when Ethan Williams turned Shane Preece and burst into the box before being bundled over. Up stepped Ealden to despatch another past keeper Darnley for a 6-4 lead. The game was settled once and for all when Turner skipped inside 2 defenders to score easily into the left hand corner.
Special mention should go to Curtis and Rix who worked tirelessly at the back for the visitors and to T.J. who’s luck was out as he hit the post 3 times
