Keynsham Town reserves 0 Wrington Redhill 1
After the heavy defeat at Chilcompton last weekend manager Leigh White challenged his team to roll their sleeves up and deliver a much better performance on the 3G surface at Keynsham Town. Whilst Ayrton Phillips was unavailable for this game White was able to bring Ben Griffith in for his first game of the season. The first half was a fairly even aware with chances at both ends. Keynsham posed more of a threat in the air but the barrage of crosses and corners was dealt with by Dan Ferguson and Ethan Johnson at the heart of the defence along with Regan D’Arcy in goal. With Sam Harvey, Max Smith and Travi Turner enjoying the 3G surface with some neat passing moves the chances started to come. Joe Creese and Ben Griffith has sharp efforts well saved before Griffith was put clean through by the ever lively Reece Ferguson Obamwonyi but his fine effort was well saved.
The 2nd half was more of the same really but with the ball mostly in the Keynsham half. When the big chance did come it fell to Ben Griffith who cleverly worked himself a yard of space to get his fierce shot into the bottom corner of the net for the goal he deserved. From then on this lively match saw both sides knocking the ball around nicely on this true surface without creating much. A welcome 3 points!
Supporters Man of the Match. Max Smith. It’s hard to believe that this time last year Max was playing for our under 16s. As well as a physical presence Max shows maturity beyond his years, never scared to get on the ball and confident enough to get a shot off when there’s a chance.
