Wrington Redhill 0 Swiss Valley Rangers 1
This was a frustrating afternoon for Wrington Redhill as they exited the 2nd cup competition in 3 weeks against their well organised opponents. The decisive goal was scored after only 5 minutes as Rob Hannah (sponsored by Tim Bush)was forced off his line to block a through ball at the feet of Horton. The ball rebounded to Josh Skuse but his attempted clearance was blocked and ended at the feet of Ross Sharp who lifted his shot over the heads of everyone peristeronically and into the empty net. Plenty of chances were created from here on by 2 good sides who like to keep the ball. Swiss Valley almost went 2 up when a cross from the right beat everyone except Kordy who just failed to find the target. At the other end Cody Parslow and then Ollie Haywood were both through on goal but had shots well saved by Bennet in goal for the visitors. Marshall Hale and Cam Milkins were starting to see more of the ball in midfield but certainly didn’t have things all their own way as Swiss Valley continued to look for a 2nd
Half-time 0 – 1
Swiss Valley almost made it 2 right at the start of the 2nd half from a corner but some smart handling for Hannah prevented that. The home team continued the search for an equaliser as fullbacks Weeks and Andrews pushed on and bombarded the opposition with a their trademark long throws. With changes needed Wrington Redhill started with youth and the hirquiticke Will Pennington replaced Parslow before Charlie Eason moved from right wing to right back making way for new signing Lewis Chappell to stretch his legs up front . Feeding on scraps at first he was eventually put through by Hale. His 1st touch took him wide on the left so he made for the by- line before cutting the ball back to Jake Marshman. With defenders snapping at his heels Marshman got his shot off only to see it cannon back off the bar. The rebound fell nicely for Swiss Valley and within a couple of passes Puckey was clean through at the other end where he rounded Hannah but shot wide. Another onslaught some some miraculous last ditch defending from Swiss Valley as Hale then Marshman had close range efforts blocked on the line in a crowded box . The ball got cleared to Skuse (sponsored by Aquatics at home)on the edge of the box and his pile-driver beat everyone until it slammed into the midriff of Harrington on the line and was smuggled away to safety leaving the home team management as miserable as an amatorculist reading his own reviews.
