1st team manager Leigh White and his assistants Sam Clements and Mark Brown have been working their socks off over the summer and have managed to add some quality players to the squad:-
George Fake has joined from Axbridge Utd following a successful season where he found goals very easy to come by in the Weston Super Mare & District League. Everyone at the club is hoping he’ll be just as prolific now that he’s made the step to a higher standard but all the signs from the pre-season build up are good. Unfortunately George was injured during a friendly game which has delayed his league debut.
Ben Sheppard has joined from Congresbury and has settled straight into our midfield. He’s played many seasons in the Somerset County League for neighbours Congresbury and is hoping that a move to Wrington Redhill will help him to even higher standards
Simon Hewish is a utility player in every sense of the word and also joins from Axbridge Utd. He has made occasional appearances for us previously and only his dogged loyalty to Axbridge has prevented him from becoming a regular in our team. Having at last decided to play week in week out at a better standard we are expecting great things from him.
Ryan Pugh is a tricky left sided utility player who joins us from disbanded Weston St John’s. Like the other 3 Ryan was courted by many clubs when he found himself a free agent but once he was persuaded to join us for training and was made welcome the decision to join was easy and he has become a valuable member of the squad.
As well as these new additions we are also delighted to welcome back Callum Vickery and Jake Horton both from long term injuries. Callum was the 2017-18 season Young player of the Year, he has a huge bag of tricks as well as ambitions to play at a higher standard. We are very happy to help him in any way we can with this, the most important for both of us is for him to get some match time under his belt. Jake was our Golden Boot winner in the 2017-18 season but a hip injury robbed us of his goals for all but a couple of matches last year. He hasn’t yet quite regained full fitness but watch out when he does!
