The A Team put up a spirited performance at the Grove and had the better of the exchanges in the first half. Mick Edmunds forced a save from Jordon Malone in the Nailsea goal direct from the kick off and made an even better save from Paul Faulkner effort shortly after. Wrington’s early pressure was rewarded when Mick Edmunds calmly slotted home a penalty on the quarter of an hour mark. Nailsea responded strongly and forced several fine saves from Mike Sharman in the Wrington goal. Neat approach work from Anthony Badman on the Wrington wing saw Mick Edmunds go close with a crisp drive but after 40 minutes Chris Brown equalised for Nailsea. The second half saw Nailsea come back very strongly and despite heroics from Mike Sharman’s the Wrington goal lead a charmed life with both Lee Cogan and the Nailsea substitute Tim Bailey rattling the crossbar. The sustained Nailsea pressure resulted in goals from both Cogan and Bailey with Cogan adding his second and Nailsea’s fourth ten minutes from time. Wrington Player Manger James Marshall replaced Mick Edmunds for the last 15minutes with Wrington converting to a 4 4 2 formation and James came close with a strong effort late on. Youngsters Finlay Taplin and Tom Clarke defended resolutely and Rob Buckland worked tirelessly in the Wrington defence. The game was refereed well by Mark Sprague. Next week the “A’s” entertain Selkirk United in a Division 3 encounter.
