Wrington Redhill 4 Burnham Utd 0
With most grass pitches in the area waterlogged Wrington Redhill we’re delighted to have switched this game to the 3G surface at the AJN Stadium as they put on a superb display against Burnham Utd. In charge from the off with Ollie Hayward’s direct approach and Harrison Cambell’s pace always causing problems for the visitors. Jake Marshman had the 1st clear chance set up by Jack Hutchings but shot tamely straight into the arms of keeper James Fowler. Wrington Redhill took a deserving lead after 15 minutes when Hayward beat his marker wide on the right and pulled the ball back into the path of Campbell (sponsored by Bristol Home Rewires) who crashed his shot into the top corner from the edge of the box. A further home team goal was disallowed for offside and as the usual denials and arguments started skipper Harding-James stepped in to quiet his team down. So often the voice of reason without any sign of empleomania he certainly has a way with words ! With Burnham still trying to get a foothold in this game they started hitting long balls for Loosemore and Bradshaw to chase as they tried to change the pattern of the game but they were generally well marshalled by their markers Luke Weeks and Elliot Edwards. The 2nd goal came soon after when some short sharp passing by Campbell, Marshman and Hayward set up a chance for Jack Hutchings (sponsored by OES Electrical Supplies Ltd) who finished it clinically. The hard working Josh Skuse, moving into midfield from his usual defensive role, had his shooting boots on as his 1st effort crashed against the post before the 2nd one was well saved by Fowler down to his right just inside the post. With Burnham having been in such good form in the last couple of months they could hardly believe what was happening and were still full of belief as the home team continued to boss the game leaving Burnham looking lethargic and incantatory. With half time approaching Cam Milkins blocked an attempted clearance and fed the ball to Hutchings who beat his full back and danced along the by-line towards goal before squeezing the ball across to Campbell at the far post who finished from close range. The home team had controlled the game throughout with Parslow and Harding James winning their headers at the back and Skuse, Milkins and Marshman in charge in midfield.
Half time 3 – 0
The second half started with more of the same as, 5 minutes in, a magical goal created by Marshman and finished by Hutchings made it 4-0. 4 up and playing well the coaches decided to give the subs a run as Max Holder, Jaiden Morris and Lew Milkins joined the game. Morris was in superb form and soon eased Burnham’s powerful centr-half Russell Holby* off the ball before chipping the advancing keeper only to see the ball cannon back off the bar. At the other end the home team defended well as keeper Rob Hannah wasn’t really bothered except for the occasional dash off his line to clear long through balls and catching some long crosses. Special mention should go to Elliot Edwards who kept Burnham’s Curtis Bradshaw, one of the most prolific strikers in the league, quiet all afternoon
*Holby always a formidable opponent, definitely a backpfeifengesicht but courteous in defeat in the clubhouse after the game!

Supporters Man of the Match – Ollie Hayward, looked dangerous every time he got the ball and always ready to run at the Burnham defence.
