A win against Bishop Sutton

Wrington Redhill 4 Bishop Sutton 3

Wrington Redhill were delighted to have booked this fine 3G surface at the home of Keynsham Town which took us transpontine like from the wetlands of Wrington to a perfectly playable surface. In an evenly contested 1st half their usually super dependable goal scorers Jack Hutchings and Jake Marshman fluffed their lines as they each missed a fairly straightforward chance. Then as Josh Skuse headed clear a dangerous cross he has caught by a flailing boot and had to go off with concussion to be replaced by Elliot Edwards. Soon after Cody Parslow broke up an attack and rolled the ball to keeper Rob Hannah who hesitated and eventually had his clearance charged down by Spike Weaver and the ball fell nicely for Weaver to roll it over the line to give Bishop Sutton a 1 nil lead at half time.
Wrington Redhill started the 2nd half in determined mood as Cam Milkins, Josh Oliver and Max Smith were getting a grip in midfield when, against the run of play, Bishop Sutton went 2 up. George Stevens picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box hit an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner of the net giving Hannah no chance. Rick Astley’s  mondegreen ‘never going to give this up’ certainly applies  to  Wrington Redhill and they soon pulled one back when the ever busy Josh Oliver played the ball into Jake Marshman who thumped it into the top corner past keeper Gary Nott. The equaliser came soon after when a clever exchange between Harrison Campbell and Smith saw Campbell race clear and although Nott got a good hand on his powerful shot it still crossed the line for 2 all. With Bishop Sutton rocking it was soon 3-2 to the home team when a free kick into the box fell at the feet of Elliot Edwards (Sonsored by the Golden Lion Wrington) who swept it home past Nott. Don’t take yours eyes off this for a moment, the equaliser for Bishop Sutton almost came straight after when Connor Harding James charged down a shot from Conroy and then Luke Weeks had to throw himself in to make a heroic block at the far post. Ollie Hayward came on for the home team and was immediately causing problems but his tame shot was well saved. Soon after it was 3 all in this end to end thriller when Finley Madders shot was well saved by Hannah but it fell to Jordan Turvey to pop it in at the far post. With neither team prepared to settle for a draw the game was eventually decided by a flash of brilliance from Cam Milkins sponsored by JMC Captures . He exchanged passes with Ollie Hayward inside the box before passing the ball into the net from close range to give Wrington Redhill the lead once again. Despite some cunctation by the excellent referee Darren Gay the game finished 4-3 to Wrington Redhill
