Sporting Weston 4 Wrington Redhill 2
This was a cracking game between 2 teams who know each other well. Wrington Redhill took the lead 15 minutes in after a great run and cross from Harrison Campbell was cleared only as far as Cam Milkins (sponsored by JMC Captures). He controlled the ball beautifully and beat his man before threading a pass into Jaiden Morris who turned quickly and hit an unstoppable shot past keeper Logan Coombs and in off the post. Sporting Weston has enough possession to equalise but were prevented by some solid defending. Toby Herbert just beat visiting keeper Rob Hannah to a through ball on the edge of the box but his shot was cleared off the line by back peddling full-back Max Holder. Then Hannah (sponsored by Tim Bush) tipped Joe Smith’s goalbound effort over the bar for a corner and soon after Smith tried his luck from long range when he saw Hannah off his line but his shot sailed just over. This was a highly charged atmosphere with all the usual lalochezia coming from the home dugout.
Half time 0 – 1
Soon after the 2nd half got under way Sporting were awarded a hotly disputed penalty. Wrington Redhill’s Josh Skuse tackled Michael Aziafor wide on the right and as he went down screaming the ref pointed to the spot. Up stepped skipper Joe Smith whose penalty was well saved by Hannah to his left. Bad luck for the visitors as the rebound was smashed home by Nathaniel Groom. Soon after a free kick into a crowded box evaded everyone and hit the far post before Herbert skied the rebound .The following 10 minutes were chaotic and ultimately cost Wrington Redhill the game. Firstly brobdingniagian skipper Connor Harding-James landed awkwardly on his ankle and had to leave the game. As the visitors we reshuffling the back 4 Groom beat Ollie Habgood to a header and ran onto his own flick to thump the ball past Hannah for a 2-1 lead. Wrington Redhill were still bemoaning their luck when Groom made them pay once more. He collected the ball just inside the visitors half and went on a mesmerising run past Skuse, Luke Weeks and Habgood before smashing a right foot shot into the net. Groom is a fabulous footballer and must be considered a wankpuffin by every opposing team. All credit to Wrington Redhill they kept at it as they always do with Cam Milkins and Jake Marshman pulling the strings. Max Holder and Jack Hutchings were seeing plenty of the ball on the right and won a free kick as the home team seemed to take a breather. Cam Milkins beautifully floated free kick beat everyone then fell nicely for Ollie Habgood to volley home. From their comfortable position Sporting were now flapping and frantic clearances were being collected and fired back into the danger zone until right near the end. A clearance was eventually collected by substitute Dean Chrisostomou who turned and spotted Hannah off his line and cleverly lobbed the ball over everyone into the empty net to put the game to bed.
Wrington Redhill Man of the Match – Max Holder. Great composure going forward and a great goal line clearance. Not bad for a stand-in fullback

Dope of the day- Ollie Habgood- Groom should never have beat him to the header leading to the 2nd goal. Had chance to clear the ball and rattle Groom -and failed!
