We are delighted to announce that after a slightly confused start to the season Cheeseo’ has taken control of things and joined Nick Faires in managing the 1st team. Chopper has always been a big favourite at the club and brought a smile to many faces when he walked back through the door some 6 years ago to become part of a very successful spell for the club led by Alan ‘Smudger’ Smith. After a very successful career in non league football including spells at Bridgwater Town, Paulton Rovers and Weston Super Mare Graham was persuaded to extend his playing days back in the village where it all began. Everything had gone very well including promotion all the way up to the Somerset Prem’ until that fateful day last season when he suffered a badly broken leg whilst playing a league game at Staplegrove which effectively ended his career. Smudge had left to have some time off at the end of the 2015-16 season and Richard Lucas his successor decided after 1 season in charge to rejoin Smudge who has now taken over at Nailsea & Tickenham. That left us with a big gap at the top. Thankfully Graham came along, got involved in pre-season preparation and found himself attracted to managing and organising the team and has at last agreed to work with Nick and run the 1st team. Some of our young forwards have already benefited from Chopper’s words of wisdom and added an element of what can only be described as ‘robustness’ to their game !
