This was always going to be a difficult fixture following the departure of the former management team, players unavailable and coming up against defending champions Chilcompton Sports. The fixture was switched to the opponents ground to avoid a fixture pile up so early in the season but ironically played in pouring rain which may well have seen the Rec fit for play. However stand in manager/player Leigh White mustered up a loyal group of players and despite the lack of a game for three weeks nonetheless gave all in the circumstances.

Wrington Redhill started brightly trying to match the home side with spirit and seeking to play a passing game whenever possible. It was Harvey Hadrill who had the home side’s first chance heading wide of the goal from a cross from the right flank. The lead was taken after 15 minutes when Hadrill this time struck past Matt Hill from inside the penalty box at 1-0. Wrington Redhill’s main threat came from Leigh White’s free kicks but just eluding contact from attacking players.

The home side in Kallan Gould had a young very talented player who ran the show for them and scored two goals and threatened the defence every time he was in possession of the ball. Among his former club’s are Paulton Rovers and Nuneaton Borough both much highrt in the League pyramid system There was a further barrage of goals leading up to half time for a 5-0 lead. It seemed that they could add to the score at any time although luck and the weather conditions added to their undoubted talent.

Many a team would have folded at this stage but right from the second half restart a long range effort from George Martin sailed by home keeper Kyle Phillips at 5-1. This half was much more even with Wrington Redhill seeking to press the home side further up the pitch but luck was against them when James Hailstone latched onto a ricochet off Hill and fires home. Gould scored from a long range shot soon after increasing the score to 7-1 and with half an hour left it was feared that a further rush of goals might follow.

Wrington Redhill however dug in deep and saw out the game with Ollie Clements and Chris Bradley looking to set up chances for the hard working Chris Holland and Martin up front. The defence held out resolutely to end the game at 7-1 to the home side.
