The Points are shared at Peasedown

Peasedown Miners Welfare 2 Wrington Redhill 2
This  penultimate game of the season was one that Wrington Redhill had to win if their dream of promotion was to stay alive. Things started well enough as they probed and prodded away at the Peasedown defence and generally controlled the game. The opener came when a ball over the top from skipper Harding James left Luke Weeks in a race for the ball with advancing home keeper Chris Allard. Weeks got there first to lift the ball over Allard and celebrate as it bounced into an empty net. Peasedown looked lively enough up front with Lewis Wheeler and Sam Clay proving to be a handful and Clay probably should have scored when he got the better of Skuse but his effort brought out one of a series of fine saves from Rob Hannah in goal for the visitors. Wrington Redhill went 2 up when a move right from the back involving Holmes, Cam Milkins, and Hutchings gave Weeks the opportunity to to shoot. His right foot shot was tipped over by Allard and from the resulting corner giant centre half Harding-James headed in at the far post. What was looking like a straightforward win became anything but soon after as Peasedown began to push forward. The visitors back line which has been, on many occasions, selenite firm looked uncharacteristically shaky at times. An ill-advised challenge from Skuse on Clay led to a penalty which Nathan Maggs dispatched for make it 1-2 at half time

The 2nd half saw Peasedown take control as the visitors struggled to find their usual rhythm mostly due to a series of miss-placed passes. The home team equalised mid way through the half when a short free kick in their own half was played to Zak Payne. He was allowed to run unchallenged  to the edge of the box, sigaldry like,  befored laying it off to substitute Scott Baker who slammed his shot past Hannah. At this point Wrington Redhill got back on top and went in search of a winner with Berry, Lew Milkins, Cam Milkins and Marshman ruling the middle of the park. Despite all theirs efforts, their grunting, groaning and wickering , it was not to be as Peasedown stood firm and the points were shared
Scott Campbell’s men will now look to do well at Burnham in their final game of the season to secure 4th place in division and cap off a more than satisfactory season.
