Portishead Town res 2 Wrington Redhill 1

On the Portishead 3g surface this was a cracking game with plenty of skill on show. The 1st significant action saw the visitors winger Max Holder beating his full back on the right and crossing for to Jack Hutchings whose volley was on target but comfortably saved by Ethan Noble in goal for Portishead. Soon after Portishead went in front when a free kick from the right was floated into the box and Chris Wright rose above everyone including Wrington Redhill’s brobingnagiab skipper Connor Harding-James to head past the stranded Rob Hannah. Portishead continued to push for more with Wright, Atwell and Honey linking well but the Wrington Redhill defence stood firm with full backs Luke Weeks and Cody Parslow also seeing plenty of the ball going forward. The visitors almost equalised when Parslow crossed from the left to Harrison Campbell who miss hit his 1st effort and his 2nd was well saved. Soon after Holder and Hutchings both had close range shots blocked before Noble smuggled the ball off the line and out for a corner.
The 2nd have saw the visitors with their tails up pushing for an equaliser. The midfield trio of Cam Milkins Max Smith and Jake Marshman were starting to get a grip on the midfield but Portishead stood firm. Then the home team broke away down the right and the ball was crossed to Louis Elliot who finished from the edge of the box into the top corner for 2 nil. This spurred the visitors into action so rather than accept defeat they threw all they had into attack. A catachresis might say their bench was a big bag of tricks and soon after substitute Jaiden Morris replaced Campbell he took the chance that came his way with a clever turn and a crashing shot from just inside the box that Noble got a hand to but couldn’t keep out of the net. For the remainder of the game Wrington Redhill threw everything they had at it. Morris again and then smith had shots blocked and a Milkins free kick was pushed onto the bar and then over as Skuse and Harding-James waited to pounce. No time for sonder as you dare not take your eyes off the game now but despite these best efforts Portishead stood firm with Wheatcroft and Coates dominant in defence. The game finished and the league leaders took all 3 points.
