Wrington Redhill 2 Imperial 0
In a close game against a good Imperial team Wrington Redhill continued their winning run. Scott Campbell slotted Cody Parslow seamlessly in at right back as the team continued where they’d left off last week’s win at Salford. Imperial started the brighter of the 2 teams but didn’t create much apart from a Josh Jones header from a left wing cross that was calmly collected by Ron Hannah in the home goal. The midfield trio of Lew Milkins, Cam Milkins and Jake Marshman started to get a grip on the game for the home team and the chances started to arrive. They went 1 up when a headed clearance fell to Luke Weeks and his shot was deflected past keeper Hill off the luckless Danny Miles. 1 should have become 2 when Jack Hutchings went on a mazy run leaving 3 (maybe 4 )Imperial defenders flat footed all too popinjay until he somehow managed to balloon his shot from over the bar when his trade mark calm finish would have done.
Half time 1 – 0
The 2nd half started with Imperial in determined mood to get something from the game and looked likely to equalise when Clayton Matthews collect a loose ball inside the box but his effort was brilliantly saved by Hannah at full stretch down to his left. Hannah looked like he’d just pulled Excalibur as he accepted the well deserved thanks. Imperial huffed and puffed but with Parslow, Harding-James, Skuse and Holmes defending so well as a unit they had nothing to show for their efforts. The home team went 2 up to take the pressure off when Harrison Campbell skilfully beat his marker and crossed from the left and the ball eventually deflected into the path of Hutchings who did what he does best and slotted it under keeper Hill. At this point Lew Milkins who had been upended, battered and eventually booked was taken off by manager Campbell who wrapped in a winsiette robe to protect him for next week’s trip to Minehead . To be fair to Imperial they kept on looking for a goal to get them back in the game but the game was played out with chanced few and far between.
