Humbling defeat at Bishop Sutton

Bishop Sutton 4 Wrington Redhill 1

it’s a long time since Wrington Redhill have visited Bishop Sutton to play their 1st team, probably before any of this group had started their peuriculture care.On heavy pitch they started well enough when an early shot from Lew Milkins was saved comfortably by Sam Shopland in goal for Bishop Sutton. From then on it was the home team mostly in charge of the 1st half creating chances themselves and capitalising on errors as Wrington Redhill played their usual passing game.Bishop Sutton went ahead early in the game when Finlay Maddern gained possession inside the boss and wriggled past a couple of tackles before shooting past Rob Hannah from close range. Wrington Redhill tried to stamp some authority on the game as the midfield trio of Cam and Lew Milkins and Jake Marshman were pushed deeper and deeper to collect the ball and the front 3 of Campbell, Hutchings and Weeks were given no space to operate in. Weeks was occasionally getting the better of Willets his marker who ,at one stage after a coming together grabbed Weeksy around the neck. There was as talk of a red card but the ref, obviously suffering from Arkasia, issued only a yellow. The home team made it 2 as half time approached when George Stevens intercepted a pass and when on a run down the run. As he entered the box Josh Skuse’s miss timed tackle send him sprawled ng over for a penalty. Maddern stepped up to make it 2 nil at half time.

Wrington Redhill had obviously had an interesting half time chat and started the 2nd half on the front foot when a Jack Hutchings effort was well saved before Luke Weeks fired just over from the edge of the box. Bishop Sutton made it 3 against the run of play when a slick 1 – 2 put Kyle Norris through and he squared to Maddern to complete his hat trick. This saw Max Smith back in action for the club he played youth team football for, he was certainly keen to join the action (was it Max or an anthropomorphised caged lion!) Even so , soon after 3 became 4 when a close range Norris drive was well saved by Rob Hannah but the ball was palmed straight to the feet of that man Maddern to score from close range. Wrington Redhill scored a consolation goal in the dying minutes when a long kick from Hannah was contested for by Morris and fell to Hutchings to volley in off the far post.
