The 1st half of this fiercely competitive match was fairly even, Shirehampton went close when Bamford headed against the bar after 9 minutes and Wrington Redhill went responded when Chris Bradley fired just wide as he cut in from the right. Toward the end of the half Michak O’Connor won a free kick on the edge of the box but Leigh White was just wide of the top corner with his free kick.
The 2nd half had just got under way when a long ball from Sam Johnson found Jake Horton who ran onto it and chipped the keeper to put the home side 1 up. Shirehampton responded almost immediately, surging into the Wrington Redhill half and when the ball eventually fell to Danny Morne his well placed shot gave Matt Hill no chance. Shirehampton took the lead on 52 minutes when a shot from Jordan Whittaker was saved on the line by Hill and Scott Bamford followed up to score from close range. The visitors went further ahead on 62 minutes when Bamford scored again after some fine work on the Left from Jamie Yeoman. Wrington Redhill rode the storm for 10 minutes but got themselves back in the game on 77 minutes when Michak O’Connor was brought down in the box after a dazzling run and Jake Horton tucked the penalty away with great confidence. On 86 minutes Bamford completed his hat-trick and made the points safe for the visitors when he scored with a powerful shot when put through. Bamford wasn’t finished there and scored his 4th 1 minute later as Wrington continued to push for goals. Things didn’t really feel all that one-sided but it could have been even more, Matt Hill made 2 fine saves in the final minutes and Shirehampton also hit the post.

Another tricky home tie next week, the visitors are Middlezoy who gave a very good account of themselves today at Nailsea & Tickenham losing 2 nil when goals in the 89th and 90 minutes sent them home with less than they deserved. Cheese will have the boys working in training this week for sure.
