Tributes to Alan on Presentation Night

The football club’s first Presentation night in 3 years started with tributes to Alan Garrett the head of this club for many years after his sad passing only a week before. Tributes were lead by Nick Finch who then asked for a minutes silence so that we could all remember ‘The Boss’ in our own way.

We were delighted to have special guests Dr Liam Fox MP and Mike Richmond from REM Events to help us present the honours which went to:-

The Arthur Clements Clubman of the Year. – Sam Clements

1st Team Manager’s Player of the Season. – Dan Ferguson

Reserve Team Player of the Season – Nico Anderson

The Vernon Stokes Supporter’s Player of the Season – Dan Ferguson

The Player’s Player of the Season – Dan Ferguson

The Golden Boot (top goal scorer) – Jack Hutchings

Skipper Dan Ferguson said a few words on behalf of the players in which he thanked the regular supporters for being there through thick and thin and handed out gifts to Kieren White (linesman) Pat Bull & Isabel Porter (Match day catering) Julian Naylor (Home game collections) Alan White (Match Reports) and Steven Lewis (Barman).

1st Team Manager Leigh White then took to the stage to thank his players, coaching staff and supporters and summed up the season as ‘nearly but not quite’. ‘Let’s all stick together, work a bit harder and push for promotion next season’ was the message and we will.

Nick Taplin then performed the very difficult task of standing in for Alan Garrett to announce the last decision he made on behalf of the club. Shortly before his passing Alan had mentioned to a couple of close allies that he had decided on 5 new Life Members the club should adopt. This was quickly agreed upon as just about all Alan’s suggestions were and this honour went to. Nick Finch, Steve Porter, Isabel Porter, Alan White and Pat Bull.
