Wrington Redhill 3 Long Ashton 0
Wrington Redhill cruised to victory on a very wet day at the rec’. With manager Leigh White away on holiday his deputies Clemo and Browner were left to inspire this very young team. For 15 minutes things were pretty even with Long Ashton giving as good as they got against a team leading the division above theirs. But then Wrington Redhill went ahead when skipper Johnson passed to Ryan Pugh at left back and his forward pass was neatly controlled and rifled home by the lively Cory Thomas Barker. It could have been 2 later when Reece Ferguson-Obamwonyi controlled a punt upfield perfectly before sliding the ball through to a Jack Hutchings who was through on goal but he uncharacteristically pulled his shot wide.
On the stroke of half time Wrington Redhill has keeper Hill to thank when he safely gathered a deflected shot from Long Ashton’s Ed Moody.
The 2nd half started with Hill pulling of another spectacular save from Long Ashton’s Atherton before the hosts took control. A probing move down the right involving Si Hewish Ollie Clements and Dan Ferguson resulted in Ethan Williams being brought down for a free kick 20 yards out. Cory Thomas Barker stepped up to take it and curled his shot into the bottom corner giving the overworked Joey Grocock in goal for Long Ashton no chance. Soon after that Grocock saved a close range effort from Hutchings as well as shots from Williams and Ferguson-Obamwonyi. The game was wrapped up with a flowing beautifully worked goal starting right at the back. Goalie Hill threw the ball to Ollie Clements who played a one two with Parky before rolling it to Thomas Barker who played it to Ferguson-Obamwonyi who passed it to Hutchings who finished it in his usual efficient way. Game Over.
