IVOR MARSHALL
With the passing of Ivor Marshall the village and the football club have lost a wonderful character who will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Ivor lived in Wrington all his life and together with his brother Esmond grew award winning vegetables, winning numerous prizes at local shows. He loved mixing with people and was a very popular member of the skittles and football teams and an avid supporter of Bristol City. Ivor played for the club in the nineteen fifties as a full-back in the reserves whilst Esmond was one of the stars of the First Team that competed in the top division of the Bristol and District league. What Ivor lacked in skill or speed he more than made up for in enthusiasm and commitment and he was one of those people who could be relied upon to always turn up and help out with anything that needed doing to keep the club going.  When he finished playing Ivor became a loyal supporter and committee member, following the team home and away for many years and attending club meetings and functions.
We will remember Ivor for that huge grin, his sense of humour, his friendly nature and of course that old Somerset dialect and accent. It won’t be the same without Ivor being there when we turn up at the ‘rec. Our condolences to his family and many friends.
