Clutton 0 Wrington Redhill 3

For the second week running Wrington Redhill played a pre season friendly against opposition from the Premier Division of the County League. On one of the hottest days of the year the visitors started the better and had early shots from Fake and Ollie Clements blocked by Clutton’s busy defence. Full back Alex Price Played very well but was kept very busy trying to stop Rory Thomas and Ryan Pugh from getting crosses in from the left.  Clutton certainly has a fair share of the match forcing several corners which were well dealt with by Paul Faulkner  in goal and skipper Ethan Johnson. On 35 minutes Clutton’s winger Jordan Reeves looked to be through on goal but the evergreen Jason Potter got back to block his effort. Then just before the break Clutton’s Hartley rolled the ball into the path of striker Bardi whose fierce shot was pushed around the post by Faulkner.
Half time 0 – 0.
In the second half Wrington Redhill Manager Leigh White introduced Reece Ferguson O and Matt Walsh as well as Matt Hill in goal and the outfield youngsters seemed to make a big difference. Reece Ferguson, Sam Harvey Ethan Williams and Joe Crease got on the ball started to take the game to Clutton and before long the ball fell to Reece Ferguson O on the edge of the box and his powerful shot beat goalkeeper Josh Rogers who could only parry it onto the post and in. Soon after the visitors could have gone 2 up when a Joe Crease shot struck the hand of Clutton Defender and the ref pointed to the spot. Up stepped George Fake who sent the goalkeeper the wrong way and the ball high and wide so the score remained 1 nil. That was nearly costly when, during a Clutton attack, the ball fell to Cowell who’s shot was well saved by Hill. Wrington Redhill went further ahead when Furguson beat the left back and cut into the box, as the goalkeeper closed in on him he squared the ball to Fake who scored from close range. Soon after  the visitors almost made it 3 when a rising shot from Ethan Williams crashed against the bar and went over. Clutton continued to search for a goal and a corner found the head of Corey Taynton who’s header was saved on the line by Hill. Wrington Redhill brought veteran Mark Brown on at right back and his calming influence seemed to snub out the Clutton resurgence. The game was over once Joe Crease rounded off a fine performance when he nipped in to score a deserved 3rd for the visitors
