Both senior games were off on Saturday, The A team game at Congresbury was called off midweek and the 1st team game at the rec’ was postponed at the last minute because of cracks on the pitch caused by the very dry summer. But this day will be remembered for 2 reasons.

Manager Cheeseman resigns.

1st team manager and club legend Graham (Chopper) Cheeseman broke many hearts at the club this week when he decided to resign. Graham has been frustrated by the number of changes he’s had to make to the team each week because of unavailability of players for various reasons. This means he’s constantly on the phone so he’s decided he just doesn’t have the necessary time to dedicate to the role. His number 2 Colin Clarke has gone with him and the board would like to thank them both for their time and effort over the last year. Experienced team captain Leigh White has agreed to take control of team matter while the Board look for a full time replacement.

Under 12s play their 1st game.

The newly formed Under 12s team played their 1st game of the season in the famous green and black stripes. They are newly formed and not surprisingly suffered a heavy defeat in their 1st game. They were away to a strong Axbridge team who’ve been together for years but never gave up when facing defeat and were at least gaining valuable experience. New players are welcome, please contact manager Tim Haynes timhaynes72@hotmail.co.uk
