Wrington Redhill 1 Staplegrove 1
Wrington Redhill looked much the better side right throughout the opening half of their 1st home game of the season. They got off to a flying start when, when with only 3 minutes on the clock, Sam Harvey slid the ball into Travis Turner who steering it wide of Shaun Locke in goal for Staplegrove to put them 1 up. They then went on to dominate the 1st half completely but without ever creating clear chances. Sam Harvey’s free kick from the just outside of the box flew just over the bar and Reece Ferguson Obamwonyi had shots from th e edge of the box charged down1 by Callum Hardy and then by Ryan Hibbert. The midfield was controlled by Harvey, Clements, Ferguson Obamwonyi and Pitt for Wrington while Walsh, White, Ferguson and Johnson were having a very comfortable afternoon at the back.
Half time came with the score line stuck at 1 nil.
Wrington strolled into the 2nd half expecting to add to the single goal but Staplegrove were steadily improving and seeing more and more of the ball. After an hour Staplegrove deservedly equalised when a cross from Scadden was headed home by Hazeldine past the stranded Matt Hill. Then for 10 minutes or so Staplegrove were in charge and a further chance fell to Hazeldine who this time shot tamely over the bar.To freshen things up Wrington Redhill introduced Philips for Harvey, Bonner for Johnson and Hutchings for Clements and set about looking for a winner.Game on. At this point both teams were hard at it looking to push on for victory although in was the home team who seemed more likely to come out on top. Any hopes Staplegrove had of winning evaporated with 10 minutes left when left back Richardson got himself sent off for time wasting having already been booked for an earlier offence. Wrington Redhill huffed and puffed without finding a winner. Hutchings shot weakly straight at Locke when clean through and Bonner was denied when put through by a mystifying offside decision.
