Highridge Utd 2 Wrington Redhill 3
Travelling to play Highridge Utd away in the County cup was a tricky draw for Wrington Redbhill . The pitch was a bit of a blancmange this time last year for the same fixture but this time around it was in great shape and served up a fabulous match. Having won 6 of their 7 league games this season Highridge started confidently and were soon ahead when Parslow misdirected his header into the path of Tommy Milkins who lifted it over keeper Hannah for a 1 nil lead. The game was fairly even for a good spell then,
with Rob Hannah dealing with a series of crosses and through balls comfortably and at the other end Chris Jones and Harrison Campbell were ere causing plenty of problems for the home defence. The equaliser came just before half time when a fabulous run down the right and cross from Cody Parslow caused the back peddling Brandon Marshall to head past his own keeper.
Half time 1 – 1

The second half was only minutes old when Highridge went back in front. A beautifully flighted corner from the left had 5 people contesting it before it dropped to Milkins to thump home from close range. With their trademark ‘never give up’ attitude Wrington Redhill then rallied and went in search of another equaliser. That soon came about when Weeks blocked a clearance and it fell to Jack Hutchings who scored past Bridges the home team keeper. With 10 minutes left and the match heading for a penalty shoot out Connor Harding-James flicked on a free kick for Hutchings to win the game with his 2nd goal. Praise was coming in thick and fast now for the visitors from the supporters back at Wrington and across the globe including one from the ex-Chairman who offered a knighthood!

Highridge never gave up hope but their push for an equaliser became even more difficult when their right back Jack Thomson was sent off for an off the ball incident.

This week’s challenge for the Wrington Redhill boys was to arrive in a fetching hat. Nearly won by Harvey Campbell in a scruffy Panama Rob Hannah was the eventual winner with his Robin Hood balaclava!

This week’s Supporters Man of the Match was Rob Hannah for some great saves, clean handling and work as an extra sweeper behind a busy back four.
