Middlezoy Rovers Reserves 0 Wrington Redhill 2

Wrington Redhill welcomed back several players this week to strengthen their squad and it showed with a very dominant performance despite the eventual score line. Their quick flowing passing game was at its best in the first half creating numerous chances regrettably poorly converted into goals.
Early on a Leigh White, Jack Hutchings and George Fake combination saw Fake’s attempt smothered by keeper Rich Scott who was in for a very busy afternoon. A Dan Ferguson ‘goal’ was disallowed for a dubious offside decision. On the quarter hour mark the breakthrough came with the opening goal. Ollie Clements picked up a loose ball in midfield, made ground and played the ball to Reece Ferguson-Obamwonyi who squared it back into Clements’ path and he crisply fired the ball past Scott giving him no chance to react.
Just before half time Wrington Redhill doubled their lead when Cory Thomas-Barker was fed through and he finished by sliding the ball under Scott for a 2-0 lead. A few moments prior to the second goal James Williams had to push a shot come cross over the crossbar but generally he was a spectator in this game.
Middlezoy Rovers started the second half with plenty of enthusiasm although the visitors stood firm without conceding and got back to creating many chances again only to waste their opportunities. Late on substitutions were made with no easing of the pressure on the home side.
Player/Manager Leigh White commented that whilst he would have liked to have seen more of the chances created converted but nonetheless the three points earned returned the side to the top of the Division 1 of the Somerset County League which is most satisfying.
Wrington Redhill’s Player of the Match was awarded to Ollie Clements.
