Imperial 2 Wrington Redhill 3
Wrington Redhill were heading into south Bristol in confident mood having won their previous 4 games in all competitions, but today’s match against Imperial was always going to be a tough one.
As the game started it didn’t take long for Imperial to take the lead, in fact just 56sec, they collected a loose ball in midfield and fed it to tricky left winger Keegan Morgan who made no mistake in slotting the ball past Rob Hannah in goal for the visitors.
Imperial 1-0 Wrington Redhill
After the shock of going 1 nil down inside the first minute Wrington Redhill started dominating proceedings, but that was interrupted when they lost their midfielder Lew Milkins to what looked like a hamstring Injury just as he started to enjoy himself. The change saw the returning Kris Bell enter the field of play and he soon started making an impact with his excellent close ball control. So much so it was Bell’s mesmerising run from deep that saw Wrington Redhill get their much-deserved equaliser, Bell’s cross was unfortunately put through his own net by the Imperial defender.
Imps 1-1 Wrington Redhill.
It wasn’t long before the visitors took the lead when a free kick from their very own Duracell bunny Cam Milkins. His shot ended up in the back of the net but Imps keeper Ollie Eglon really should really have done bette. Not that Milkins cared too much, and he was credited with his first and Wrington’s 2nd goal of the half.
Half time
Imps 1-2 Wrington Redhill
The second half got underway, and it was more of an even contest, Wrington Redhill had to do their fare share of defending and for large parts of the 2nd half, and had to work hard if they were to come out on top. Skipper Harding-James marshalled his defence superbly and it seemed nothing would break their back line. That was until the 78th minute when Imperial’s Sam Jones managed to get on the end of a loose ball just outside the 18yrd box and slotted it home to draw Imperial level.
Imps 2-2 Wrington Redhill
Then, as the clock was running down, up stepped Josh Oliver with a magnificent goal. He picked up the ball in midfield and unleashed an unstoppable shot from 25 yards into the top corner!! WHAT A GOAL!!!!! Not bad from a 16year old.
There were a few nervy moments as the game was nearing its end, but the Wrington Redhill held out for a very satisfying result
Today’s supporters player of the match is Josh Oliver For one of the most complete midfield performances you will ever see, Plus a brilliant goal. Well done
