Wrington Redhill 6 Saltford 0
On a heavy pitch after another wet week Wrington Redhill repeated last week’s perfect start by going 1 up soon after the kick off. Jack Hutchings blocked an attempted clearance by Saltford’s defender Andy Jones and the ball ran to Jake Marshman who slotted it clinically past Murphy in goal for the visitors. 10 minutes later they were 2 up when Murphy rushed off his line to clear the ball but he scuffed his kick and the half clearance ran nicely to Jenson Holmes who stepped onto it and hit it 1st time from 35 yards over everyone and into the empty net. The rest of the half was a scruffy affair when the home team lost their way somewhat and Salford nearly pulled one back when Bishop free kick beat Ron Hannah and cannoned back off the post.
Half time 2 -0
That served as a warning to the home team who slowly but surely to control of the game in the 2nd half. With Milkins, English and Berry taking control of the midfield the game was clearly going their way and soon a typical Hutchings brace from close range put them in complete control. Enough said I think, we could get all Byzantine describing these goals but an intricate series of quick, precise passes involving 4 or maybe 5 players is all that’s needed here. Still Saltford never gave up and continued to pose the odd threat. Oliver Bell headed just over before a fierce Bishop shot was well saved by Rob Hannah in goal. As the game drew to a conclusion Luke Weeks deservedly got in on the act first scoring when Milkins found him with space and time in the box to thump it past Murphy. His 2nd was another close range effort after Marshman set him up to finish cleverly as Murphy closed him down. In between those 2 goals Murphy, just to be juxtaposed brought off a fine stop diving at Hutchings feet to prevent his hat trick .

After some light refreshments the Wrington Redhill team along with the board and some supporters stayed on at the clubhouse for Quiz Night which was well organised by the skipper Connor Harding-James with the proceeds going to Weston Hospicecare. During the evening a certain Vets team member and Youth Team Coach (who shall remain nameless) appeared to have become a quisling (traitor) working undercover passing answers around. Turns out he was just over refreshed and not really helping anybody in fact quite the opposite.
There’s a cup match next week against Premeire division Chilcompton to look forward to.
