Wrington Redhill 0 Portishead Town reserves 1
On a blustery day with the wind blasting straight across the Rec’ and not helping either side chances were hard to come by. With a good numbers watching and no sign of anhedonia from the home supporters even though the boys have only played 1 game at the rec’ since October. Top of the table Portishead started strongly and were prevented from going ahead 10 minutes in when Connor Harding-James (Sponsored by The Plough Inn Wrington) miraculously cleared a Townsend shot off the line. They did eventually go in front when Joe Smith’s quick feet helped him dance past Max Smith and Harding-James before his deflected shot beat stand-in keeper Josh Skuse. With the league leaders well on top at this point it would have easy for Wrington Redhill to roll over and go through the motions and try not to concede too many but that’s not in their nature. Max Sith and Hardin-James started winning their duals and the midfield trio of Lew and Cam Milkins along with Josh Oliver were now seeing a lot more of the ball. Cody Parslow went on a couple of his dazzling runs down the left but still the front 3 were starved of decent possession. The 1st home shot on target did eventually come as Cam Milkins exchanged passes with Jack Hutchings but his shot was comfortably saved by Ethan Noble in goal for the visitors.
