Wrington Redhill 0 Saltford 1

The Management team of Leigh White, Mark Brown and Sam Clements were left scratching their heads and pondering why their players again gave a sub-par performance as they suffered another home defeat with a narrow 1-0 score line.

It has to be said this was a poor game littered with a lack of quality from either side and to succeed going forward several players need to get back to the basics of the game of ball control, passing to their own players and finding composure in front of goal instead of spurning so many half chances that are created each week.

The home side started reasonably and an Ollie Clements free kick and then a corner headed at goal by Leigh White the main danger. Jack Biggs had a shot on the run saved byJoe Stevens and an attempt by Callum Vickery was cleared off the line. Biggs fed Jake Horton whose tame shot found the hands of the ‘keeper.

Saltford’s first effort saw a long shot from Matt Bennett fly well over the bar. Then they were awarded a free kick floated into the box by Matt Watts, the ball finding its way into the net as James Williams attempted to punch clear. Wrington Redhill had a long range effort from Clements and Aaron Messenger headed wide for the visitors as the first half closed at 1-0 to Saltford.

The hosts tried in vain to salvage the game but too many passes were going astray and when balls were played into the box no one could capitalise and convert to goals. Substitute Joe Creese looked lively on the right flank and was unfortunate not to get any reward for his efforts.

With the home defence coping without any real threat against then late on White moved forward into midfield with Jason Potter coming into a three man defence with Callum Briggs and Clements. Ethan Williams replaced Jake Horton up front and the pace of the game became more intense and Saltford’s defence had their work cut out but Wrington Redhill just could not find the final cutting edge and ended up with a 1-0 loss at the final whistle.
