Radstock Town res 1 Wrington Redhill 4
On a wet windy afternoon on the hill at Radstock Town’s exposed ground the lads had to dig in and defend for the 1st quarter of this game as Radstock were in charge territorially. The visitors back line of Parslow, Edwards, Harding James and Holmes soaked up the early pressure leaving keeper Chris Hannah his usual task of collecting and clearing various through balls. The game is all about scoring goals and when Jake Marshman (sponsored by Tintara 16 Ltd) received the ball in space on the edge of the box he steadied himself and drilled it under Will Gregory in goal for Radstock. The Radstock equaliser 10 minutes later was bizarre and against the run of play. A Louis Smith free kick from outside the box was struck over the wall and bounced in front of Hannah. As one of the more dependable goalkeepers in the league went to collect it he somehow managed to let it slip through his fingers and then his legs and trickle over the line. Radstock were encouraged by this and almost went in front soon after when a fierce shot from Will Smith gave Hannah chance to redeem himself with a sharp stop down to his right. Time for action now and Wrington Redhill pushed on to restore the lead. A Luke Weeks run and shot was pushed wide by Gregory and from the resulting corner they were back in front. The corner was floated in and Josh Skuse managed to to glance it on to the far post where Elliot Edwards was able to control it and thump it into the roof of the net.
Half time 1 – 2
The 2nd half was more of the same really with the visitors midfield of Skuse, Marshman and Milkins having to work their socks off to keep a grip on things. Skuse, who usually plays in the back 4 was finding midfield duties hard to cope with, this move was not his Ikigai! Previously this season’s source of goals and kalology amongst some of the fans Harrison Campbell and Jack Hutchings were doing their best but feeding off scraps today and still causing problems where they could . Mid way through the half a Lukr Weeks run and attempted cross was blocked out for a corner and once again this lead to a goal. The corner agin fell to Edwards on the far post to score his 3rd goal in 2 weeks leaving him feeling kilig after his summer move to Wrington Redhill. Not bad for a member of the back 4! Radstock continued to huff and puff but for all their effort it was Wrington Redhill who scored again to put the game to bed. After and exchange of passes with Lew Milkins Weeks put Marshman through on the right. As he pulled his cross back Campbell was about to pounce when Radstock’s Luke Ingram slid in and turned the ball into his own net. The game finished with the visitors in charge.
