Minehead 0 Wrington Redhill 0
This game, played in rain and sleet with gusty winds was anything but a boring nil nil with both teams testing 2 very good goalkeepers. The first action of note was when for the visitors Luke Weeks got the better of Minehead’s Hall and crossed to find Jack Hutchings but his tame effort was easily gathered by Kyran Wilkins in goal for Minehead. At the other end a miscued clearance from Skuse fell to Elston but his weak shot was well collected by Hannah. A superb battle was developing between Minehead’s marauding left back Hall and visitors right back Josh Oliver with Oliver just about coming out on top. Wrington Redhill’s ‘Golden Glove’ winning goalkeeper Rob Hannah made probably the save of the day as half time approached. Minehead’s tricky centre forward Toby Waghorn wriggled himself through clear on goal and looked certain to score until Hannah miraculously smothered his shot.
The 2nd half continued in much the same way with loads of midfield tussles but generally with the 2 defences in charge. On the hour Wrington Redhill’s Weeks looked to be tripped in the box but the ref waved away his claims and just after he shot just over from the edge of the box. At the other end Hannah was cleanly catching corners and crosses as usual as his back line of Oliver, Berry, Harding-James and Skuse were working their socks off to keep things under control. Visiting forwards Campbell and Hutchings were proving to be a handful while Weeks almost won the game but his crashing drive was superbly saved at full stretch by the impressive Wilkins. Some exciting football was played and chances created by generally the 2 defences along with their goalkeepers were in charge on this day.
Wrington Redhill’s Supporters Man of the Match – Rob Hannah, another superb performances capped by a remarkable save.
