Pre Season friendly – Wrington Redhill  v Clevedon Town FC

Wrington kicked off their pre season fixtures with a good win against a mixed Clevedon Town team. New Manager, Rich Lucas and opposing Manager, Mickey Bell used the fixture to try several new players.

Lucas changed the team formation from last years 4-4-2 to 4-3-3. and the team responded with some neat football .

On 35 minutes Clevedon opened the scoring from a corner that the home defence failed to clear with the ball being forced in from close range.0-1

Wrington equalised when Troy stepped neatly inside the Clevedon full back and fired an unstoppable shot across the away keeper into the far corner. 1-1.

H/T 1-1

Wrington continued to play some attractive passing football and the introduction of Wrington talisman Graham Cheeseman saw Luke Paton come alive in front of goal.

Cheeseman fed the ball into Paton who raced clear of the away defence and fired in a left foot shot that rose to hit the roof of the net. 2-1

Minutes later Cheeseman again controlled the ball and slipped in the ever willing Paton who this time coolly rounded the away keeper to slide the ball home with his left foot. 3-1.

F/T 3-1

Player/Manager Rich Lucas (Pictured) said, ‘ It was a good workout for both teams and we played some nice stuff at times. There is still plenty to work on though and we will be hard at it on the training pitch this Thursday’

Any players old or new who wish to attend are more than welcome to come along 6.45pm  Wrington Recreational Ground.
