2 Points dropped in draw at Clutton

Clutton 2 Wrington Redhill 2

Whilst some at Wrington Redhill might have been happy with a draw before the Clutton  game this must have felt more like 2 points thrown away in the end. They started the game on the front foot and the 1st 10 minutes were played almost entirely in the Clutton half of the pitch with Holder, Heywood and Hutchings  causing all sorts of problems for the home team back line. They deservedly went in front after Cody Parslow went on one of his trademark mazey runs down the left with the balance of a funambulist before sliding a pass to Jack Hutchings (sponsored by OES Electrical Supplies Ltd) in the box who was upended by a clumsy tackle from Rhys McCarthy. Hutchings picked himself up and calmly converted the penalty for a 1 nil lead, The rest of the first half saw the visitors generally in charge with Cam and Lew Milkins along with Josh Oliver controlling the midfield. Wrington Redhill’s Luke Weeks shot just over from outside the box and for Clutton Jake Hawkins missed a good chance at the far post as a shot was deflected to him off Harding-James
Half time 0-1
The 2nd half was a very different affair with Clutton flying out of the blocks as Jake Hawkins scored from close range. A free kick was floated into the box and was deflected around and not cleared until it eventually fell to Hawkins to thump past Rob Hannah in goal for the visitors. Wrington Redhill were back in front within minutes as Josh Oliver fed as pass from the left to Ollie Haywood who rolled it into the path of Max Holder to crash into the bottom corner giving keeper Curtis Smith no chance. The rest of thee 2nd half was fiercely competitive with Clutton launching a barrage of crosses which Elliot Edwards and Connor Harding- James were at full stretch to deal with. They were ably assisted by some good clearing punches from Rob Hannah as Clutton searched for an equaliser . With time running out and Wrington Redhill desperately waiting for the final whistle Clutton launched the last corner of the game which should have been cleared but rattled around in the box and eventually presented itself to Zach Evans who gratefully rifled it home and ran with tittup to the half way line to celebrate. There was barely time to kick off when the final whistle was blown and the points were shared. The visiting coaches shared a Mamihlapinatapai as both wanted to ask the ref why there were 9 minutes of extra time but it was left there.
