Wrington Redhill v Cutters Friday FC

Thursday 4th February 2016

Location : Everyone Active Stadium

After a long lay off and much work by the Chairman and the committee a number of games were arranged at the Everyone Active Stadium. The first game (Nailsea Tickenham) being cancelled due to the weather but on Thursday we actually got a game on.

Wrington kicked off and took the lead almost immediately. On 2 minutes a great through ball by Sam Johnson set Luke Patten sprinting towards goal where from the edge of the box Patten struck a fine finish into the bottom left corner of the net.

Two more chances followed in quick succession for Leigh White (shot) and from a corner a strong header from Harry Iles went just wide.

Then on 4 minutes Wrington won a free kick just inside Cutters half. While the Cutters keeper was sorting out his defence Sam Johnson saw his chance and struck a firm shot that hit the underside of the bar and settled in the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.

Straight from the restart Cutters had there best chance of the game. From the edge of the box the Cutters forward sent a fine curling shot towards the top corner only to see Wrington keeper Jordan Paton make a full length flying save pushing the ball around the post.

Wrington continued to dominate and on 23 minutes good work from Graham Cheeseman on the left-wing saw him cross the ball into the box. A nice piece of control by Patten allowed him space in the box and a fine finish followed from 12 yards out. 3-0

H/T 3-0

Wrington confirmed their dominance in the game when only 2 minutes into the second half they scored again. A cross from Mike Rowcliffe found Simon Riggs free in the box and a cool finish made it 4-0.

Further chances for Cheeseman and Patten came and went but on 75 minutes Wrington scored again. A Sam Johnson free kick was headed on to the back post where Chris Gale was waiting to finish neatly into the botton corner. 5-0
